Mississippi State Auditor Wants to Target Illegal Employers

"Mississippi's state auditor has joined the growing number of state officials across the country who believe the federal government is not doing enough to stem the tide of illegal immigrants. That's why he wants to go after employers who hire illegal aliens. Phil Bryant says Mississippi is like many other states -- illegal immigrants have descended on the state, taking low-paid, low-skilled jobs. The Mississippi auditor wants to know the exact financial drain the immigrants are having on the state's medical and educational services, but he has run into a roadblock," Agape Press writes. "'We need to immunize ourselves [in Mississippi] with a clear, definitive law that says if you're working for the state government or local governments [under contract] and receiving taxpayers' dollars -- and you're violating the law by hiring illegal immigrants -- we can void that contract,' [Bryant] says."

Mr. Bryant has run into a roadblock in getting statistics. Funny, you don't hear the ACLU belly-aching and suing about that, the way they do when they can't get their statistics.
I hope this measure is passed. It is important.

What he wants to do is something Ihave stated numerous times.

My contention is that contractors in Louisiana are getting federal contracts for the rebuilding of New Orleans. These contracts are for the use of our tax money. I would like to see a clause in EVERY federal contract that stipulates that ONLY legal labor will be used by every contractor and sub-contractor on the contract. Failure to use LEGAL labor should result in forefeiture of ALL pay for ANY work done up to the time of discovery of any illegal laborers.

Problem is that this was suspended by King George for the New Orleans construction.

Sick and Tired,
Last week, George W. Bush was forced to reinstate the provisions of the Davis/Bacon act which means at least contractors and businesses must now pay at least min. wages, however, they are still likely going to use as much foreign and illegal labor as they can so our fight is only half over...I would recommend everyone continue to access the Congress.org website and write all their elected reps and the president and continue demanding investiment in American citizens and an end to illegal immigration, labor enforcement and border security. The squeaky wheel gets greased...
