California County to Get Immigration Training of Jail Officers
"Inmates booked into West Valley Detention Center soon may have their immigration status
checked due to an agreement with the federal government approved Tuesday by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors," the San Bernardino Sun reports. "The county is among a small group of agencies to take advantage of a 1996 law that allows law enforcement officials to perform some functions of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security."
