"A hurricane of political rhetoric over a flood of illegal immigration is sweeping Arizona
. . . On Tuesday, Republican U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth accused Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano of being "no better than the brazen looters" in New Orleans. His point, absent the insult, is that Napolitano shouldn't ask the federal government for a declaration of emergency that could provide funds to offset the state's costs of border enforcement. To do so could rob victims of Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters, Hayworth argues," the Arizona Republic writes. "The state Democratic Party's executive director, David Waid, fired back at Hayworth, painting him as 'out of touch' with Arizona and asking, 'Have the (Capital) Beltway, champagne, caviar and campaign contributions gone to Hayworth's head?'"
