Tuition Laws Spark Fierce Debate The New York Times reports on efforts to let illegal aliens get in-state Comments
Isn’t it a great system? A U.S. citizen has to be in his own state to get in state tuition. An illegal alien has a wildcard that works anywhere. They’re treated BETTER than American citizens. It’s like we say: “Let’s get the stupidest people we can possibly find and elect them to be our leaders”. Posted by: Gail Roma on June 20, 2005 12:57 PM "They’re treated BETTER than American citizens." This is ridiculous Posted by: Ralph on June 20, 2005 02:13 PM Susan Donaldson James' article singles out one bright student, Esteban Navarro, and states "-his dream of becoming a mathematician dashed in a tangle of immigration laws." as though this were a fact. Posted by: Bill Dexter on June 20, 2005 02:16 PM I will point out that the illegals from Mexico and Central America have the highest drop out rate (even with bilingual ed going full blast) of all ethnic groups and very, very few go to college and even fewer make it all the way through. For the most part (based on their pattern which is well-documented by the statistics at the universities), they drop out after attending class once or twice. Allowing them in (even if they pay out of state tuition) prevents native citizens from being able to enroll because an illegal has taken up room on the roll. Few will take advantage of this and the few who do will, for the most part, waste any funds/monies directed their way. Add to this the fact that they are ILLEGAL and should not be here to be able to enroll! Posted by: J on June 20, 2005 02:54 PM There is a little known Federal law that says that if a college or university, etc. gives illegals wavers on out of state tuition then ANYBODY else who wants to attend that institution from out of state can do so without paying out of state tuition! Check it out and if it applies in your state, be sure and confront the bleeding heart liberal college administrators and see how they like THAT. Posted by: Macman on June 20, 2005 04:15 PM I checked a couple of years ago, and college was free in Mexico. I don't know if that's the case now, but I just think this is just one more way they are intentionally trying to suck our coffers dry. Talk about a parasitic nation and their parasitic citizens. I know in my state they are courting out of state students just for the money, so it will be just a matter of time before they court illegals. Every foreign student in this school has scholarships, financial aid, work study etc. and every white student I've talked with is struggling to hang onto their financial aid. Once a month, the financial aid office is threatening to cut their money off for some convulted reason or another. The foreign students, who are barely able to speak the language let alone read it, never have any problems whatsoever. It's sickening to watch. I send students to the on campus attorney to complain. When one group gets away with catering to illegals, everyone else thinks they can, too. Someday the party will be over for them all, but we have to remain active and keep up the pressure. Posted by: jadedmarilee on June 20, 2005 06:14 PM Something that seems to get missed in all of this is that IT IS ILLEGAL TO EMPLOY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ANYWHERE IN THE US. Why are we considering a tuition break for anybody who cannot be legally employed here when so many citizens could use financial aid for college? Posted by: Dflinchum on June 21, 2005 07:05 AM Subversives realize they have got to dumb down the people and illegal aliens are being used for their cause. Why do you think the schools are being destroyed? Illegal aliens and others like them are a perfect vehicle. This is not about jobs or votes its far worse. Its doomed to failure but in the mean time its going to cause all kinds of damage. Let history tell you what you need to know. There is a much bigger battle going on and its about time people realize it. Posted by: Shane on June 21, 2005 03:27 PM They are always like that.
