8 Year Old Assaulted, Left for Dead by Illegal Alien Rescued
"Milagro Cunningham thought he was a killer Sunday morning, police say.
Only his carelessness proved him wrong . . . The horror of what he is accused of doing and the raw drama of his victim's rescue seized national attention Monday. Police came upon the 8-year-old girl's hand and foot jutting from the rock-filled trash bin Sunday morning and presumed her dead, until one saw a hand move ever so slightly," the Palm Beach Post reports. "In a one-month period last year, Cunningham was arrested three times by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on burglary charges. A relative said he also had been arrested recently on a charge of throwing a rock through a car window." [FAIR comment: Why didn't police check Cunningham's immigration status when he was arrested?]

One more reason for law enforcement to check immigration status on ALL individual's arrested. This guy should have been deported long ago - like at the time of his first arrest.
It would be nice for the family of the 8 year old to file a lawsuit for negligence against the law enforcement agency that should have checked his immigration status at the time of his first arrest. If that had been done maybe this would not have happened.
IMMIGRATION REFORM NOW!!!!!
Good lord, what will it take for our government to wake up and start enforcing immigration laws? Is he the "hard working" people Bush refers to constantly? It seems almost daily we hear about victims of illegal aliens (I would say crimal aliens, but hey they are criminals by being here in the first place). That poor girl. I agree sick 'n tired, sue the povernment for aiding and abetting these criminals and their activities. I dislike lawyers and what they have done to this country with their liberal views (eveything is about the $ for them despite what they say), but here is a chance for them to redeem themselves.
I would like to see the pro immigration fanatics spin on this story.
Unfortunately, unless something like this happens to a government official it will be glossed over and chalked up as just another crime against a citizen.
If it was a Senator's daughter though, the good ole boys would band together in a hurry for their own interests for sure. (Although I think Kennedy would still be on the side of the bad guy).
Looks like we're going back to the days of yore in jolly old England where the royalty ruled for the good of the other royalty and d@mn the serfs and their ilk. Sociology class comes to life!
I’ve been following this story since it broke. Isn’t it strange that I had to come to an immigration oriented web site to find out that he is an illegal alien? George Orwell said that “propaganda is in what gets left out”. Why didn’t the news media include this little detail in their reporting?
If this guy was arrested 3 times last month, why wasn't he deported?
The American people are getting a first hand look at the real "Terrorist Threat" to this country.
We all need to deluge our Gov't with demands for immediate immigration reform with No Loopholes like were in the Real ID Act.
We must demand protection for our families from these animals!
Well,I feel disgusted and sad to hear that everyone here is against illegal residents or "criminals" as ignorant people would say...when they have done so much for us like giving us food. Before you argue listen... the reason i say this is because if they weren't here.. you think Americans would want to be out there in the hot sun picking the fresh food and vegetables you eat everyda? Of course they wouldn't! I also read that you mentioned tax.. that they are geting money. Wrong! since they are illegal they don't file them and therefore they don't get a tax retrn and who stays with that money? yes, the government. who gets it? YOU. I don't understand why Americans see them as bad persons. just because of one person, it doesn't mean all are the same... I live in California, our governor is Arnold Scharzneggar. He is Australian. Right now we are fighting to get them a liscense to drive. He doesn't want to grant them one. He doesn't want immigrants here in U.S. and supports the "Minute men" at borderlines everywhere , WHEN HE WAS/IS A IMMIGRANT!!!!!!!!( No one can't understand him nor what he is saying, the only reason he won was because he was a famous actor...) Very sad to hear people against immigrants
When I hear people say "you are anti-immigrant," I've always corrected it and said "I'm anti-ILLEGAL immigrant, but when I read about animals such as the one who tried to kill the 8-year old child, I'm beginning to wonder what I am. The stories are there every day - another crime committed by an illegal. Does our President have any idea of what's going on in this country. How many Americans have to die before this travesty is stopped? Get the troops on the border now!
Gail, I noticed the same thing. They never mentioned him being an illegal alien on the TV report. The media will never mention that fact. Like you say, you have to come to this site to get the full story. And it definately is a problem that the news stations are leaving this information out. If more people were aware of all the crimes attributed to illegals, they would be more likely to demand that something be done about it. And we need to get this information out there.
If you are illegal you are a criminal. These poor pitiful drug doing liberals dont have a foot to stand on. Nobody wants to hear the flaky crap they have to share. The fact of the matter is when you do anything outside the law you are a criminal. If im ignorant for calling an illegal alien criminal. I wonder what i will be called when i exercise my right to defend my family against one of those criminals. I know if it ever happens the government can document the one that crosses me. Documentation will probably be in the form of a toe tag. If you want to be ignorant like me go out and get a carry permit. I can demonstrate ignorance like nobody has ever seen. Liberals are the reason we are in this situation we are in now and thats not ignorant its just plain stupid!
California-n, sorry but I have to laugh at your ridiculous false arguments. First, Arnold S. is Austrian, not Australian. Big difference. Second, you indicate that you are not a US citizen so I seriously question whether or not you are sincerely interested in what is best for the US or if you are only interested in what is best for YOU. Nevermind, I know the answer. Third, you know, Americans all ate well in the 40's when there were few illegals in this country to pick our vegetables (go figure Americans did the work) despite how LAZY you think Americans are. Most citizens (75%) do not have a college degree. And if the illegals did not depress wages in the agriculture industry so much that it is not econmically beneficial for Americans to do the work, you can bet plenty of people would do the work. Or better yet, farmers would do what they have always done when faced with worker shortages, technology. Fourth, they DO NOT pay taxes if they are illegal. You can't pay taxes without a SS #. That means they are not paying their fair share (or any for that matter) of the costs of a modern society. And if they do have a SS# is it a falsified document and again criminal behavior. Fifth, there are legal means of coming here. They just choose to ignore that avenue and flaunt our immigration laws. THEY ARE ILLEGAL by definition. Even a weak minded person like yourself should understand that concept. Sixth, we pay for their health care since no hospital can turn away anyone (many have gone bankrupt as a result), which leads to crowded emergency rooms intended for US citizens. Seventh, we pay to educate their children. Eighth, because they do not come through the proper immigration channels, people with communicable diseases come in and infect US citizens (leprocy and TB just to name a couple). Ninth, by coming in illegally we can not screen for criminals like this that pray upon US citizens. I can keep going on and on. But I beleive I have made my point and proved you have NO knowledge of the subject. Other than the fact that you yourself are an illegal alien and a possible criminal!!!!
California-n, No one is saying they are against legal, orderly immigration. It is unorderly, mass migration that we are opposed to. Personally, if someone doesn't want to be thought of as a criminal or treated as a criminal then, perhaps, they should not act as a criminal. It is very difficult to have millions of people in a country whose very first act upon entering it is to spit all over the laws and rights of US citizens and then "demand" their rights. You mention they don't pay taxes yet don't see that as am issue for US citizens who will then have to cover the expenses for them. They are stealing from US citizens and those who are here legally. Not paying taxes is a federal crime, and they need to do the time. Actually, Americans have always done all kinds of jobs in this country, so I disagree with you that there would not be people to work in the fields. What do you think smaller farmers and ranchers do? There are not illegals on every one of them, certainly not in the state I live in. High school and college students, particularly those going into the agricultural industry work those. I would prefer the government would use low level criminals to do their time working off their sentences to free up more jail space to be used to detain illegals prior to deporting them. This would give low level US citizen criminals work experience, enable them to get their lives together and get treatment for their mostly drug problems. Drugs coming from the same countries that illegals are coming from. I wonder if the two are ever tied together? What do you think California-n? What we really don't like is people bringing corrupt behavior, that was OK to exhibit in their home countries, into ours. This is OUR country and it is OUR place to set up OUR rules and OUR laws. If you can, learn to assimilate and function within the constraints of our society and culture. If you cannot, there's always home to go back to. See, in the United States of American one has the FREEDOM to make choices. However, illegals do not get to make choices that will take away the freedom and rights of US citizens. Read about the history of this country--we don't lie down and take it easily.
This is in response to "California-n". When I first read this comment I thought it might be from my sister - she can't get facts correct either!
The following is a definition of ILLEGAL from the Merriam Webster On-Line Dictionary:
Main Entry: 1il·le·gal
Pronunciation: (")i(l)-'lE-g&l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle French or Medieval Latin; Middle French illegal, from Medieval Latin illegalis, from Latin in- + legalis legal
: not according to or authorized by law : UNLAWFUL, ILLICIT; also : not sanctioned by official rules (as of a game)
Illegal as defined by Wikipedia:
An illegal alien is an individual who enters a country at a place other than a designated port-of-entry, in violation of that country's laws.
An illegal immigrant is a person who either enters a country illegally, or who enters legally but subsequently violates the terms of their visa, permanent resident permit or refugee permit. The status and rights of such individuals is a controversial subject that is often linked to economics and moral judgments. There are a number of terms that refer to illegal immigrants. The terms undocumented immigrant, and illegals are roughly synonymous, while illegal alien includes those who do not intend to settle in the country, and undocumented worker includes legal residents and even citizens with defective papers who may or may not intend to stay in the country.
Once again I fail to understand what part of ILLEGAL makes it OK for these people to be here and have rights that are reserved to U.S. Citizens?
I have absolutely NO PROBLEM WITH LEGAL ILLIGRANTS! If they wish to work fields then let them work fields at a decent pay. I have no problem paying $3 for a head of lettuce. At least I know that the person picking the lettuce is legal and is getting a decent wage and not being a slave. I would know that the person weeding the strawberry patches has the right to drive to and from work and that they are paying their fair share of taxes to help pay for their children's education. They would be bearing part of the burden through their own contributions - not relying on legitimate taxpayers to pay for their medical, housing, education of their kids and them not paying taxes and then sending their paycheck out of the country so Vincente Fox can sit on his ass in Mexico fat and sassy.
"California-n" is right - they don't pay taxes and that is the problem. They get taxed when they buy certain goods - providing they are not blackmarketed goods.
I also live in California and Governor Schwarzenegger is NOT Australian he is Austrian.
We are not fighting to get illegal immigrants a drivers license - at least I am not. Senator (and I use the term very loosely) Gil Cedillo is trying to get them some sort of license. Governor Schwarzenegger should not allow them. If they are legal immigrants then they can easily obtain a California Driver's License. Nothing wrong with that. They learn English, wait in line, do the paperwork, get legalized and have all the rights they want!
I definitely support the Minutemen (and women) and would like the program to continue. It shows that border control can be accomplished. Just think if we could get the Nation Guard down on the border!
I am not against immigration and this country was founded on immigration - I, and many others, are against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! I can't say it much plainer that that!
Uh, Dale I believe Mr Schwartzenegger was a LEGAL, not an ILLEGAL immigrant. There is a difference, which should be clear to anyone who can read a dictionary.

We need to have the federal authorities quit avoiding the issue, enforce the law and fine these people and get some of the $$$$$ back and maybe they will get the hint - but we have to be serious about it!
