AZ Legislature Advances Bills to Ban Hiring Halls, In-State Tuition


"The state House of Representatives on Thursday endorsed a pair of proposals targeting undocumented immigrants in Arizona. Amid a debate over illegal border crossers, cheap labor, day-work centers and college education, Republicans easily moved both legislative plans forward," according to the Arizona Republic. "The bills face a final vote in the House before they are sent to the Senate. Critics of banning publicly funded day centers said the proposal doesn't make financial sense because day laborers do everything from roofing to landscaping."
