Utah Governor Signs "Driving Privilege" Bill

"Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. on Tuesday quickly signed into law controversial legislation that phases out Utah driver licenses for undocumented residents and replaces them with 'driving privilege cards' that do not count as government identification," the Salt Lake Tribune writes. "A preliminary legislative audit prompted the latest and successful fight to void driver licenses for undocumented residents. The audit showed that of about 95,000 noncitizens issued a state ID or driver license, more than 300 had illegally registered to vote and 14 had actually voted in the past election. Huntsman's office refused a request for an interview but issued a statement saying that the new law works for all sides."
