Fake ID Sting Nets Two Selling ID's to Terrorists

"Two New Orleans men arrested in a sting operation pleaded guilty on Monday to a conspiracy to sell fake U.S. identification documents to purported foreign militants, officials said. Cedric Carpenter and Lamont Ranson admitted trying to sell forged Mississippi driver's licenses, Social Security cards and birth certificates to undercover agents they thought represented the Philippines' Abu Sayyaf group, a statement from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said," according to Reuters. "As part of the guilty plea, both defendants admitted to conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. They face a maximum sentence of 15 years behind bars, a maximum fine of $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for May 13."
