Colorado Measure to Restrict Benefits Stalls

After a state legislative committee killed a bill to restrict benefits for illegal aliens, supporters of the measure said they would continue to work for passage. "The head of the anti-illegal-immigration group Defend Colorado Now said he'd begin circulating a petition to put the matter to the voters in 2006. He said telephone surveys show most Coloradans don't want their tax monies spent to deliver services such as health care and drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants."
