CONCERN RISING AMONG AMERICAN JEWS OVER IMMIGRATION
In a column in the New York Jewish Week, editor Gary Rosenblatt notes a growing debate within the American Jewish community about the long-term effects of U.S. immigration policy. Given the history of Jews in the United States, “it is only natural that the American Jewish community has been outspoken in its support of open immigration,” Rosenblatt writes. However, demographic realities are causing some second thoughts. “By the next census, Muslims may well outnumber Jews in the U.S.” “Unlimited immigration is a danger to the Jewish community,” says prominent New York rabbi David Lincoln. “There is a worldwide struggle today against Islamic fascism and we need to be very careful about who we let in.”
