IMMIGRATION TO BAY AREA HIGH EVEN FOR CALIFORNIA The Straits Times of Singapore says an analysis of Census data shows that the San Francisco area experienced high levels of immigration during the last decade. "Detailed data from the US census 'long form' - which asks more in-depth questions for one out of every six households - reveals that immigration into the Bay Area outpaced both the California and US average." In addition, "Asia-born residents dominate the immigration picture. While 23.3 per cent of immigrants in the Bay Area hailed from Mexico, the next four countries that sent the most immigrants were all from Asia." |
