NEW FAIR REPORT: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SWAMPING LEGAL IMMIGRATION SYSTEM

FAIR today released a new study showing that about one-quarter of all legal immigrants being “admitted” to the United States are actually people who came here illegally and are adjusting their status using a loophole in the law. This is nearly half the number of aliens who were granted blanket amnesty in 1986. The study, “The Truth Behind 245(i) Amnesty: How Illegal Immigrants are Taking Over Our Legal Immigration System,” finds that a likely 1.4 million illegal aliens will have been legalized under Section 245(i) between 1994 and the end of this year. Section 245(i) allows illegal aliens, for a fee of $1,000, to apply for legal residence while in the U.S. without being required to first return to their home countries. The INS has yet to account for the over one billion dollars it has collected in Section 245(i) fees.
